Time flies when you have babies and they have birthdays!

Our little Reese turned 4 on Tuesday! We celebrated with cupcakes at her preschool, dinner at Mcdonalds (her choice), ice cream, Build a Bear, and of course: presents.

We will celebrate her again this Saturday with a pool party and family.

A re-cap of our girl:

  • Obsessed with Frozen everything, she dreams of meeting Anna and Elsa.
  • Still sucking her thumb – a habit we are desperate to break!
  • Loves snacks – particularly NutriGrain bars and gummies.
  • Playgrounds of any kind.
  • Pockets on her shorts – for stuffing coins, rocks, and lip glosses.
  • Hair down, no big bows and frills for this cutie – she prefers her hair down always – and with those straight locks, I’m cool with it.
  • dresses and fancy princess costumes
  • Animals – Reese loves all kinds of animals, especially Dixie and Sammy
  • Terrified of bugs: deathly terrified of flies.

Our little May baby is spunky and sassy to say the least. She believes everything is a game and truly makes us laugh often. She is stubborn about getting up, dressed, showering – but full of life and loves to chat.

Happy Birthday to our sweet Reesie-cup!

Rylee turns 8!!

Our beautiful girl Rylee turned 8! All this princess wanted was a new brother or sister – so we surprised her with the good news… See her reaction here..

Rylee celebrated with a birthday party at the bowling alley and a sleepover with some of her girl pals.

We took her out for her favorite dinner, Mexican food and of course dessert!

Happy Birthday to our oldest baby! Hard to believe this blog was created when she was 6 months old!!

and then…she was 5

I began my blog when this girl…was 6 months old…and now, just look at the young lady she has become..
We celebrated her 5th birthday on Feb. 1…manicures, icecream, cupcakes, new clothes, hugs, and lots of giggles…I can’t believe she’s 5 now.
My word, when they say the years fly, they surely do.
Even Reese(y) baby got in on the fun as we made our own versions of balloon animals that turned out more like balloon blobs.
Nevertheless, it was enjoyable.
And then we partied…Rock-n-Roll style, that is.
With some special guests & lots of friends & family
lots of yummy goodies from popcorn and rock candy, to veggies
a homemade birthday cake…because I’m loving this tradition
(I mean hey I’m no Ina Garten or Martha Stewart…but its all in fun)
a party just isn’t complete without handmade, girly tutus
(seriously, easiest thing ever to make)
homemade chocalate and vanilla cupcakes with personalized cake toppers
And the birthday girl..
I love these little girls..

my beautiful, my Rylee

Once upon a time….
my husband and I became…parents..
Little did we know how fast it all would happen.
3 wonderful years together, a long engagement, purchasing a house, college graduation.. and then…pregnancy
…an unplanned pregnancy…
I was scared. I was so nervous. I wasn’t sure I was ready to be a mom.
I didn’t know the first thing about how to care for a baby.
So, I did what I do in any situation that I become nervous about…I prayed.
I knew that this was God’s plan. He would take care of me and my baby.
I remembered something my mother had always said since I was old enough to remember, “everything happens for a reason”.
So, during pregnancy, I read every book about growing a baby bump, giving birth, and parenting that I could get my hands on.
I learned things I never even heard of…like: poop color, diaper rash, cord blood donation…I mean you name it, I read it.
And then, on February 1, 2007, I met the beautiful little girl I had been falling in love with.
I remember every moment about the day she was born.
The winter chill, the traffic on the way to the hospital, every family member rushing to meet the new baby, the sound of her first cry, the first time she looked at me, the blanket wrapped tightly around her tiny fragile body, and the first time I held her. is forever etched in my memory..
I remember our first night together – I snuggled her close to me and told her these words…
“my Rylee, I promise to always love you and care for you no matter what”
My heart was complete.
From the moment I first met her, I fell in love.
My first born. My daughter. My beautiful little Rylee.
...from a sweet angelic baby to a little diva rockstar…
Happy 5th Birthday Rylee!

seriously, by the sound of every posts, you would think I’m a food critic or a food addict?

well, I’m not…I’m just a chocolate/sweets/sugar loving chick.

We celebrated my 27th birthday (so there, that’s an excuse for chocolate overloadin’, right?) Speaking of chocolates…Mike brought me home some yummy, no INSANELY YUMMY CHOCOLATES!  I definetly could have eaten every single one of them..but don’t worry I shared…

I celebrated with my 2 beauties…Rylee and Reese.

On Momma Mackey’s bday, Rylee is exactly 1/2 a year older…you see this little snookums has been glued to me since the day she was born….and now just look at that precious grin of a growin little lady who will be in Kindergarten next year…(stay tuned for a “momma meltdown moment” post when that happens)
The first one up to wish me a Happy Birthday…Reese at 3:30am  – I know one day I will miss those moments of coos that say “oh maaama its time to get up and feed me because if not I will scream bloody murder and starve because I’m so skinny” so I never complain – her little smilin face when she sees me scoop her up and kiss those chubby cheeks and whisper “mama loves you” at wee hours of the morning makes it all worth it
My girls strapped in and ready to go for our Birthday outing
First, up: Reese had a 2 month check up on our special day together….our wittle binky boo boo weighs 14 pounds now!  😉 – we are so blessed with 2 healthy children 😉

For some reason, Rylee loves going to the Doctor when she knows she’s not the one receiving the shots…

look at those pink lips…these are seriously some ridiculously good cupcakes yal

yumm yummm…chocalate with raspberry buttercream frosting…droolin’ yet?

well, here, watch me eat it 🙂

only taking a quick breath from inhaling this cupcake for Rylee to get a snapshot
Another year older..and still not one gray hair  (I probably just really jinxed myself)….. But I do have…some stretch marks, a beautiful family, a heart full of love, fresh air in my lungs, my vision, arms to hug my loves, legs to chase the little ones, a kitchen stocked full of groceries so I never go hungry, and the blessings go on and on…
I’m a lucky girl..
I’m a happy girl..
And this certainly was a happy birthday..

its a Party! :)

Ever have one of those days where you wish you could cherish the moments forever?..
If you’re like me…I’m the type of gal who tries to remember every detail, every person, all the “remember whens”, every hug, all the “I love yous”…
I try to forever etch them into memory… that one day I can tell my little ones of all the wonderful times waaay back when..

Today was one of those days where we celebrated lots of family accomplishments and birthdays…poolside..(getting soaked even wearing street clothes….because we were dripping in our sweat getting splashed)

Cousins (Taylor and Rylee) played in the pool until they were seriously pruned…chatting and catching up…

Aunt Heather and Rylee enjoyin a cool dip

Daddy Mackey hestitating on doing a back flip but opted for a semi-cannonball? into the heavenly coolness…
A good ol fun fashion game of pool volleyball…notice everyone on noodles in the deep end…and they still won…..their prize…..killing bees that swarmed the pool..
Pure…Bliss…again..FOOD and all tha fixins (it makes me drool just lookin’ at this)!!
Yummmmy, ………I mean this wasn’t my plate because I clearly ate/inhaled a hamburger AND a hotdog, AND chips and dip, AND pickles, AND potato salad…seriously, don’t judge…I’m not depriving myself of yummy delish-ous-ness!
How sweet is this?! I should have taken pics of the other 16, 4 other desserts we had…including peach cobbler……again, no pics of my plate were taken here because:
number 1. it was devoured in like 2 seconds,
and number 2. I could ruin my reputation with a plate THAT size 🙂
A must have at any southern party… of ANY kind…SWEEEEET TEA!

Momma Mackey and Daddy Mackey stoppin for a quick pose…post devourment of food…

Rylee lookin oh so tan and not complaining about the massive mosquito bite on her neck…(yay! one meltdown saved….thank you Benedryl itch relief)
Cousin Jen and baby Reese…hanging out…
Aunt Jane and baby Reese…seriously Reese-y baby makes sleepin’ look so precious
Cousin Lorie and Reese-y baby relaxin
More cousins…poolin’ and stylin’
Daddy Mackey puttin on his “this party is totally rockin and I love every picture wifey is taking because she takes like 687 pictures every time we go somewhere” look…he loves me? No? 🙂

totally cute cousins
Nanny and Aunt Susie…the hostesses of the party who are complete preciousness
Reese’s…and Rylee’s absolute fav spot/chair…..PawPaw’s belly…really, every child needs one of these…a sweet ol “Paw”
the most precious baby in the world..smiling because:
a. she plans on keeping Mommy and Daddy up all night?
b. she made a serious diaper that will only be changed by the coin toss loser?
c. because she thinks “hey I better just smile and get used to this camara being shoved in my face every second of my life”?

And, finally, …oooh…ahh….the end to a perfect party

welcome REESE!

We welcomed our sweet little Reese Kennedy on May 19! She weighed 7 lbs and 14 oz, and 20 1/4 in long! And let me add, she is absolutely perfect! Also let me add that yes, we did think of all those quirky little nicknames that she may get called (Reese-y cup being one of our favorites)…and we’re cool with that.

A Very PROUD big sister ready to take care of little Reese…such sweetness

Our very 1st MACKEY FAMILY PHOTO with our latest addition…Reese (oh, and please don’t be jealous of my puffy eyes, swollen monster hands, and dark roots)
Now let me skip back and little and fill you in on us Mackeys since, lets see..last post.. Jan. 31…seriously I have not been good at keeping up with our Moments!
Ok, Rylee turned 4 in February!! And she is sooo grown up and mature….constantly reminding us of “..remember when I was little, you know, back when I was 3?…” She’s precious. Mike turned 32 in March…which was a major thing because between you and me, he’s gotten a few more grey hairs. April was baby showers, baby prepping, and naps.  Momma went on maternity leave in May. June was full of diaper changing and ’round the clock breastfeeding. July was pool days, popsicles and St. Simon’s Island…and that brings us to the present..  🙂
So sit back, relax and enjoy our Mackey Moments…
